Database Technical Specialist

Reports directly to and is a member of the Technology Management Committee and indirectly reports to the Guild committee chairpersons referenced below.

Summary

Provides technical support for the activities of the Indian Fair and Market Artist Exhibitors, Staging, Juried Competition, and Student Art Show & Sale Committees, including data entry, database backup, computer software and hardware maintenance and updating, advice regarding program capabilities and limitations, and other support as requested.

Time requirement: Several hours each week and considerably more preceding and during Indian Fair and Student Art Show.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meets regularly with the Technology Management Committee
  • Meets regularly with the Chairs of the Indian Fair Artists Exhibitors, Staging, Juried Competition, and Student Art Committees
  • Evaluates current technical needs and identifies potential solutions
  • Enters data or trains others to enter data into the applicable software and databases
  • Prints or trains others to print reports from the applicable software and databases
  • Ensures a system of backup and archival of essential databases

  • Microsoft Access, a relational database software program
  • The Artists Database User Manual
  • The Student Art Show Database User Manual
  • LogMeIn, an internet application which allows remote access to the Guild Room computers
  • Carbonite, an internet application to backup Guild computers
  • Jotform, an internet application for creating online forms and collecting data

Position Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel
  • Willingness to learn the MS Access software, Jotforms, Carbonite and the LogMeIn applications
  • Will be required to become familiar with the Artists Database User Manual and the Student Art Show Database User Manual

 Special Considerations

  • Must have access to PC computer or laptop, Internet access and email
  • Must possess good communication skills and great patience to provide technical assistance to Guild members

August

  • Provides budget information to the Chair of the Technology Management Committee

September – April

  • Meets with committees as appropriate and carries out assigned tasks

April

  • Review and update this Position Description and submit recommended changes to the Technology Management Committee
