Eligibility

The Heard Museum and Heard Museum Guild comply with the requirements of The Indian Arts & Crafts Act of 1990 (P.L. 101-644) which makes it illegal to market an art or craft item in a manner that falsely suggests it is Indian-produced. Under the Act, an Indian is defined as a member of any federally or officially State recognized Indian Tribe, or an individual certified as an Indian by an Indian Tribe. For information, visit www.doi.gov/iacb/act.

If you are an American Indian between ages 12 and 18 and you are currently attending high school or middle school, grades 7-12, you are eligible to enter the 2023 Youth Artist Show & Sale (YASS).

NOTE: If you are age 18, regardless of whether you are still in high school, you may choose to enter the Juried Competition at the 2023 Indian Fair & Market as an adult.  If so, do not use the YASS submission forms, but use the regular application for Fair Artists with a family member or friend.  All Fair deadlines, rules and fees will apply. You may only enter one competition:  the Indian Fair or YASS.

There is no application or booth fee for YASS entrants with their submission.  After judging, YASS artists’ work will be displayed and sold in the Monte Vista Room of the Heard Museum during the Indian Fair & Market on March 4-5, 2023, in Phoenix, AZ.
