Volunteer
The volunteer opportunities available to Guild members are many and varied. Collectively, Guild members provide over 50,000 hours of volunteer service each year.
Volunteer Service
A few of the many volunteer service possibilities include:
- Serving customers at the Museum Shop
- Greeting Museum visitors at the Information Desk
- Providing our Indian artists with food and refreshment at events such as the Spanish Market, Katsina Carvers Gathering, or Indian Folk Arts Festival.
- Working behind the scenes preparing mailings, cataloging silent auction items, setting up for the annual Book Sale & Treasures Market, or volunteering in the Library.
- Enjoying the receiving, hanging, judging, selling, & computing activities involved in staging our Student Art Show & Sale.
- Becoming one of the hundreds of volunteers needed for set ups, food booths, ticket sales, hospitality, artist check in, information booths, signage, etc. at our annual Indian Fair & Market.
- Providing market outreach information to the local tourism industry.
- Serving on one of the many Guild committees or being generally available whenever volunteers are needed.
Museum Shop
One of the most popular places to volunteer is the Museum Shop & Bookstore. Guild shop workers enjoy working with the staff and with visitors from all over the world.
Las Guias
Many of the Guild’s members enroll in an enriching, seven-month, training program to become a member of Las Guias (Spanish for “the guides), the Museum’s cadre of docents. In addition to the guided tours they conduct for the Musuem’s visitors, several Las Guias members have formed a Speakers Bureau to present educational programs to local schools, community organizations, public agencies, and business groups.
