52nd Annual
Heard Museum Guild
Indian Fair & Market
March 6 & 7, 2010
Make your plans today to attend the Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair and Market.
There will be more than 700 top American Indian artists displaying and selling
jewelry, textiles, sculpture, pottery, paintings, carvings and beadwork. There will
be exciting music and dance performances and artist demonstrations the entire
weekend.
Food will range from American Indian specialties to gelato to cajun cooking. The
traditional fry bread, Hopi piki bread, and Apache acorn soup will be on hand as
well.
Hopi artist Michael Kabotie is this year’s Fair artist. Whether crafting imaginative
imagery on canvas or in metal, Kabotie’s work is distinctive, colorful and sought after
by collectors. Sadly, Kabotie passed away in October, however, his family has given its blessing to have him continue as Signature Artist.
Meet winners of the Heard's juried art competition at the Best of Show Reception on Friday, March 5.
A special feature, "Apache Peoples and Arts" is being planned to honor the bands
of the Apache people featuring acclaimed elder artists, along with food and art
demonstrations. There will be storytelling by Apache entertainer Ken Duncan and
even a wikieup!
Don’t miss this chance to spend the first weekend in March 2010 in beautiful,
sunny, warm Phoenix, Arizona and take in one of the largest and most prestigious
Indian Fair & Markets in the United States at the world famous Heard Museum.
