Education is a priority for the Guild as we support the museum's goal of educating the public about the American Indian heritage, culture and art of the Southwest. We have a comprehensive program which includes a variety of offerings, both for Guild members and the general public.
On request, Heard Museum Guides offer lectures, PowerPoint presentations, and hands-on programs to schools, community groups, service organizations and businesses.
Guild members may become docents by attending a training course which is conducted once each year. After graduation, docents lead the tours offered daily at the museum.
This class is four half-day training sessions which cover native cultures of the Southwest from the prehistoric to the present. The public may enroll in this course.
Free public lectures on historic and modern events, the arts, tribal cultures, travel possibilities, and the current social and political scene are presented by speakers who are leaders in their fields,
Interpretive tours of the Heard Museum exhibits are offered several times daily and are included in the admission fee. In addition, private group tours can be arranged in advance.
