Guild Members Only Invited to “Mystery Mosaic”

Dear Guild members,

Your children and grandchildren will thank you!

They’ve probably seen ‘The LEGO® Movie.’ Now please bring them to the Heard Museum at 10 a.m. this Saturday morning to participate in a members-only assembly of a ‘mystery mosaic’ made of tens of thousands of LEGO® bricks!

Child_with_Build_toy_brick_happy_faceEach participating child will be entitled to have his or her name added to the label copy next to the finished mosaic, which will stand as part of BUILD! Toy Brick Art at the Heard, through Sept. 28.  They may also sign up for our ‘BUILD-ing’ summer day camps to be held each week in June. And bring them back often this summer, as the museum has plenty of hands-on components for the whole family! Be amazed at the ingenuity of American Indian and non-American Indian LEGO® brick artists and try your own knowledge and skill.

Details of the exhibit and the day camps are at See you there.

Build Day at Heard Museum – Angry Birds Toy Brick Mosaic

Angry_Birds_-_2Guild volunteers and staff got together to make our first ever BUILD! Day a huge success.

Special thanks to Dave Shaddix and Marlowe Katoney for being the creative geniuses behind “Angry Birds” the weaving and “Angry Birds” the LEGO mosaic.

Thanks to John Bulla for the supplies and for the food and refreshments!  Thanks to Deb Krol for the Facebook posts and for many of the great candid pics.

And a very huge thanks to the Design staff; thank you Yuki for being the mastermind behind this event — from organizing the exhibit design, the brick order, calculating all the moving parts and for pulling it all together yesterday just before the event. To Kelsey and Marissa for designing the logos, the fliers, the web graphics and eventually the exhibit graphics that are now underway; for all the long hours, weekends and ups and downs; thank you guys for getting us this far.
P.S. For those who missed this and still want to help, we may have another opportunity. Stay tuned!
